Help we can give

The sole raison d’etre of the Rutland Historic Churches Preservation Trust is to provide a financial helping-hand to any  place of worship within the County.  An extract from the Trust Deed is given on the home page and it will be seen that the Trust has a wide discretion when considering applications.  During the life of the Trust applications have been considered for a whole variety of works of reparation or restoration and over the ten year period up to 2008 grants of £172,000 have been awarded in addition to loans of £25,500.  There is never enough money to meet the needs of all churches but if you are responsible for the maintenance of a Rutland church and need financial assistance then you are encouraged to make an application.

An application form can be obtained from the Secretary or printed off from the PDF link below.  The application form gives all the information you will probably need, but in the event of your wanting more guidance a quick call to the Secretary (by telephone or email) should be sufficient to answer your query.

When a grant is approved by the Trust it is generally expected that the work will be carried out and completed within the following five years.  Occasionally this is not achieved but it is always open to the applicant to re-apply, explaining why the original grant was not able to be taken up within the specified period.

Loans which are made by the Trust are interest free and are repayable by annual instalments over a period of time determined by the Trust.
